Marie also volunteered at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick, was a member and volunteer of Rossmoor Community Church, and a member of Conklin United Methodist Church in South River. She loved to travel, play bridge, garden, play golf, do art, and host gatherings for her family and friends. She was devoted to her husband, family, and her home. She was always willing to help and give her time to others. Marie was a wonderful, kind, and giving mother, grandmother, daughter, and friend.

Marie moved to Rossmoor Village in Monroe Township and spent the remainder of her life there. They raised their five children in South River and spent their summers in Mantoloking Dunes. She married Raymond Charles Laffin, who passed away in 1986. She spent summers as a child in South Seaside Park with her sister Lorraine (d. Marie Appleby Laffin of Monroe Township, NJ passed away peacefully on Sunday January 2, 2022.
